About

Our 2-year Energy storage project, Improvement of Redox Flow Energy Storage with Renewable Energy to Secure Sustainable Electricity Systems (ImpRESS), was launched on 1st October 2017. It is funded by the International Energy Research Centre (IERC), which is an industry led, Enterprise Ireland/IDA Ireland Technology centre funded jointly by the Department of Enterprise Jobs and Innovation and the Department of Energy, Communications and Natural Resources.

The IERC combines both business innovation with research excellence to address energy demand, side efficiency and systems integration challenges, which is a key aspect of our energy storage project. The research team here at Queen’s University Belfast (QUB) will focus on energy/ power density improvement and optimisation as well as modelling and integration of systems services to the grid.
